Vision Statement:
With an eye to the future, the 2018 Chubu Women in Business Summit will address key issues, such as workplace diversity, access to daycare, and work–life balance. Addressing these concerns is critical if Chubu is to take full advantage of the gateway that will be opened by the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, which will shorten the trip between Tokyo and Nagoya to just 40 minutes beginning in 2027.
Out of the 47 provinces in Japan Nagoya ranks 33rd regarding workforce diversity for women. Access to quality daycare, shorter working hours for male employees, and a higher percentage of women as full time workers are three of the key elements to achieving higher rankings for cities in Japan. If Nagoya is to keep its talent and attract business to this area then these and other important elements of building a diverse and vibrant workforce need to have the attention of the local government and businesses in this area.
At 505 km/h, with Y10.7 trillion in potential economic benefit in the 50 years from its inception, the Linear Chuo Shinkansen is poised to create jobs and greatly benefit the business environment in the Chubu area.
